Seattle on my mind

You may have noticed that I haven't had a ton of blog posts lately. Sorry about that. I haven't mentioned it on my blog because normally I talk about sewing or fashion, but other things have been on my mind lately... mainly moving.

I love Portland, but moving to Seattle had been in the back of my mind since I got there 8 years ago. I knew someday I'd move back to be closer to my family. But along the way, I got married, bought a house and started a career. I had a cadence to my life and a fun group of friends. But (some) friends move, houses are outgrown and both me and my husband were getting itchy for a change.

In January a girlfriend and I were chatting about where we wanted to be by year end. She wanted to take her family and live abroad - Sweden, Mexico or maybe Indonesia. I wanted to find a PR job at an ad agency. We toasted to our goal.

Now, she's having a fabulous adventure with her family in Indonesia and I'm back in Seattle, with a job and an apartment overlooking the Space Needle. (My husband moves here the end of this week - yay!) It's kind of surreal. All of this makes it sound easy. There were actually a ton of interviews, a tower of logistical challenges and a lot of 'am I doing the right thing' gut checks. There's a numbness that has to settle in with the whole process. It's part of jumping head first into a totally new situation and keeping your eye on the one thing you need to.

I'm simultaneously sad, exhausted and super excited. I can't wait to get our cadence going here again. Discover our soon-to-be favorite breakfast spots. And set up our home with a working studio so our brains can be active and creative. For goodness sakes, I can't wait to sew!!

So, thanks for sticking with me through all of this. From the blog traffic, a ton of you are still reading, and I am so appreciative.  There's more to come from this little blog, I promise. And soon!
