Wanting a respite from the crowds we decided to go to a small town 1
hour sw of Paris called Chartres. It was exactly what we needed - a
mix of history, quiet cafes and a modern yet sleepy shopping district.
It turns out that Chartes was more of what I thought Paris was going
to be like.
We took the train, which made the ambiance complete. I wish the US had
more trains like Europe. We have yet to step foot in a car this trip.
So far all our travels have been in the Tube, Metro and train.
