Walkability is important, it's not only a healthier way of life - you can walk off the glass of wine from your favorite neighborhood bar - but it's also great for your soul. It can make you feel like you have a closer connection to people and the world around you. Studies have actually shown that the more walkable a community the lower the crime, more volunteerism and higher rates of social activity. Makes you wonder what kinds of problems could be solved in the world if communities were geared towards the simplest form of mobility - walking!
