I'm trying to learn as many french "fabric-based" words before our trip in October. Fabric, in french is tissu.
One of my favorite books Simple Sewing with a French Twist recommends several locations in Paris for fabric shopping and I've found a few others.

Tricot is knit?
Oh yah, and I have to remember to order it in meters not yards.
